WHEN: Sunday, July 15, 2018 - 9:30 to 3:30 pm

Usually our most attended summer event, the Venetian Party is all about a group of boaters who decorate their boats in different themes and cruise down the Fox River showing them off. Some are funny, some are entertaining. Either way, they are great to watch as they come down the river. Jim and Jeannie are very gracious in offering their home that is on the Fox River so we have front row seat while we have a party. Only paid members are sent a private invitation to this event.

Trip Update: Check out the Powder Dogs Facebook page for Lynn's post detailing this event.

Picnic at the Hollows 2012

Chairperson: Diane Keen
WHEN: June 17th, 2012 from 9 am to 3 pm
WHere: The Hollows Conservation Area, Crystal Lake IL

We had the Lake Atwood shelter reserved which was located just 50 feet from the lake.

Stand Up Paddleboarding lessons were given by Rick. During one of the lessons, Debb Schnoor was attempting to stand up when 40 mph winds came up all of a sudden and pushed her into the water loosing her prescription sunglasses. After the winds subsided and the water became calm, she tried again and got up but during this time Laurie was looking in the water where she fell and spotted her sunglasses on the bottom of the lake in about 10 feet of water. That's how clear the water is at Lake Atwood. Thank you Mike Nelson for diving down and getting her sunglasses.

Stand Up paddleboard fun races - Competitors left the beach at the same time each on their own paddleboard. They had to navigate around an island, go backwards, beach the board and get a rubber ducky and come back to the beach. Sammy won the under 18 class with Gina and Stephen right behind. Mike won the adult class with Myra and Laurie close behind. Congrats to all that participated.

Phil and Krista also brought a couple of kayaks for club members to use. Thank you Phil and Krista.

Geo-caching- is an outdoor sporting activity in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches". Phil and Krista put out caches throughout the park to be located. Prizes were awarded to everyone that participated. Thank you Phil and Krista.

The big fun was when a very quick storm front came through around noon and created 40 mph winds but no rain. We had a few people out on the paddleboards that got blown over. The storm front passed in 60 minutes and everything was back to normal. We had no rain but it did cool things off for a while. Otherwise we had a perfect weather day.

Thank you Diane Keen for a great time.

WHAT: This is a Saturday evening Chicago Dogs game and starts at 7:05. They play the Kane County Cougars at Impact Field located at 9800 Balmoral Avenue in Rosemont, IL.

Our June get together at the Chicago Dogs baseball game was great. We had seats right behind the 3rd base dugout, we all received Chicago Dogs hats, and had our ski club name up in lights as “Welcome Powder Dogs Ski Club” appeared on the left field scoreboard. There was also this mysterious credit card charging occurring at the concession stands which seems to have led to more free beer for everyone. The evening culminated with a really good fireworks show which sent everyone home very happy.

2017 Cubs vs Rockies Game

Chairperson: Marty Papanek

Plus you're able to get up and walk around, socialize, and eat and drink.
