Deadline- Contact Karen no later than October 5th
The plan is to start at the Lake Geneva Library at 7:30 a.m. There is free, street parking 2-3 blocks north of the library
The full walk takes anywhere from 8 to 8 1/2 hours to complete. We have a few people who only want to walk 1/2 way around which is from downtown Lake Geneva to the Abbey in Fontana. Jim will have a car there and bring anyone wishing to stop the walk in Fontana back to their car in town. Total mileage around the lake is just over 20 miles. The walk to Fontana is approximately 10 miles.
You will eat lunch in Fontana at the gazebo in the park (near Chuck's) and then continue the walk back to Lake Geneva. Karen will bring peanut butter, raisin bread, bananas, and trail mix to share with everyone. If you wish to have something different for lunch, you can carry along with you in a small back pack or put in our car and Jim will bring to Fontana. From Karen's experience in doing this, you don't want to have much to carry or get too full at lunch. You can put extra water in our car and get it at lunch for the afternoon walk. There are not many spots along the way to get water. There are wash room facilities in several places (some are portable at boat launches).
You may want to bring along some extra socks in case the grass is wet in the morning.
We usually have dinner together afterward to celebrate our accomplishment! Last year we ate at the Boat House which is right across from the lake next to Big Foot State Park.

The 2023 “Walk around Lake Geneva” was a rousing success. Even though the turnout was small, everyone had a great time and it turned out to be a beautiful day. Participants included event leader Karen Ulasovich, her husband Jim who was the food and water driver, Powder Dog members Mark and Pam Prissel, and Mary Hogan, along with two former Powder Dog members Joanie and Paul
The event began promptly at 8:00 a.m. in front of the usual starting spot of the Lake Geneva Public Library. Breaks included Linn Pier, Fontana, Williams Bay, then back to downtown Lake Geneva. Kudos to Mark, Pam, and Paul who walked half way around, about eleven miles, and double kudos to Karen, Mary, and Joanie who walked the entire lake, 21.9 miles. The evening culminated with dinner at Lake City Social and a good time was had by all. Thanks go out to Karen for leading another safe and successful journey around this beautiful body of water.

Where: Library in downtown Lake Geneva, WI.
Cost: $00.00 per person.
It all started at 8 am in the morning at the Lake Geneva library. We had 8 walkers. 5 made the whole 25 mile walk while the others just went part or half way. Rick and Jim were in charge of driving the support vehicle. They met the walkers three different times to offer water and food so they didn't have to carry the extra load with them.
There was perfect weather for this year's, what's become an annual activity, "Walk Around Lake Geneva." Temps were in the upper 50's with a little overcast and wind. Afterwards, the group went into Lake Geneva and had a nice dinner at the Lake City Social.

The “Walk around Lake Geneva” was the twenty-one mile excursion that started on the lakefront, in front of the Lake Geneva public library and ended about eight hours later at the same location. This years participants included Dan Chapala, Hope Grahl, Kelly Olson, Kyle Francis, Lori Olson, Irene Rafa, and of course the ring leader, Karen Ulasovich. Your president, Jim Ulasovich, also participated by driving the car at various stops around the lake, providing refreshment, snacks and encouragement to those making the trek. I of course felt no ill effects from the twenty-one miles and remained fresh as a daisy, even though drinking water and eating trail mix throughout my travels was tough. (LOL)
Congratulations go out to all that completed the walk. After the walk we all headed to the Boat House for our celebration dinner. The food was great and Dan had a much deserved one pound cheeseburger that looked outstanding! Nice going Powder Dogs!
