The plan is to start at the Lake Geneva Library at 8:00 a.m. Meet on the back side of the library facing the lake front. Three is parking without meters about 2 blocks North of the library on the side streets.
The walk takes anywhere from 8 to 8 1/2 hours to complete. We have a few people who only want to walk half way around which is from downtown Lake Geneva to the Abbey in Fontana. There will be someone that will have a car there and bring anyone wishing to stop the walk in Fontana back to their cars in town. Total mileage around the lake is just over 21 miles (the information on the mileage varies anywhere from 21 to 26). The walk to Fontana is approximately 10 miles.
We will eat lunch in Fontana and continue the walk to town. I (Karen) will bring peanut butter, raisin bread, bananas, and trail mix to share with everyone. If you wish to have something different for lunch, you can carry along with you in a small back pack. From my experience in doing this, you do not want to have much to carry or get to full at lunch I'll have the items mentioned above in the staged car in Fontana. We have someone bringing bottles of water to have at lunch. If you want more water, you will have to carry along with you. There are not many facilities along the way to get water. There are wash room facilities in several spots (some are portable at boat launches).
You may want to bring along some extra socks in cse the grass is wet in the morning.
We usually have a dinner in Lake Geneva to treat ourselves after the walk! Last year we at at Oak Fire which is right across from the lake (next to Popeye's) with a nice upstairs inside/outside atmosphere.
